The applause icon,  which appears throughout the site, indicates that thanks are due to those named for information or assistance which has helped to make the databank more comprehensive and, perhaps no less importantly, more interesting.

A cumulated list will eventually follow which will include the names of all those who have helped in this way. In the meantime they are already credited throughout the site wherever possible, especially in the footnotes and in the hyperlinked pages which have enlarged versions of the illustrations and more detailed captions. I wish to express my thanks to all who have helped; it is very much appreciated.
