A little nonsense now and then, etc.
Under this light-hearted heading an anonymous author penned a clever parody of four scenes from a Shakespearean comedy as an advertisement for the San Francisco Hammam.
The Hammam opened in 1875. The parody was reprinted in 1881 in The Turkish bath hand book, a compendium comprising a wide variety of writings on the Turkish bath edited and published in St Louis by George F Adams, who owned a Turkish bath there at 1063 Washington Avenue.
