Kitchens

Q.    I'm looking for nineteenth-century prose works that do interesting things with kitchens as physical spaces.

A.    The Field, published (16 June 1860; p.503) a brief description of, and a local builder's quotation for, the conversion of a kitchen on the third storey of a house in Victoria Street into a small Turkish bath for Stewart Rolland, David Urquhart's political troubleshooter.
