Victorian Turkish Baths Picture of the Month for May 2008

Don't have a Turkish Bath without "4711":
a popular newspaper advertisement, 1927

Newspaper ad for 4711 eau de Cologne

This is one of a series of newspaper adverts for 4711. This toilet water, claimed to be the first, has been sold for over 200 years.

'Before going to your Turkish Bath,' advises the ad, 'take a 2/6 bottle of "4711" Eau de Cologne with you and get the masseur to give you a brisk massage in the final stage.'
