Victorian Turkish Baths Picture of the Month for October 2014

The Holborn Turkish Baths: charges card

Holborn Turkish Baths card

This simple pocket-size card (116x76mm), listing opening hours and charges, has not been thrown away and has remained in perfect condition for well over 100 years. It is a perfect example of the value of printed ephemera to the historian. For this is the first occasion, in over 20 years research, that these baths have demanded that their existence be recognised. For anyone interested in such wonderful, fascinating objects, membership of the Ephemera Society is a must.

This card is from the collection of the Victorian Turkish Baths Project
