Shampooing at the York Hall Turkish Baths, Roman Road, Tower Hamlets (previously Bethnal Green) in the 1920s.

The masseuse is using a rough shampooing glove and wearing a one-piece bathing suit. The wooden head-rest, seen most clearly on the empty slab, is of a traditional design.
