estimated cost of the Gentlemen's Lodge and Turkish baths

At its meeting on 16 February 1875, the Committee of Management instructed Edward Taylor, the Retreat architect, to work with Dr Robert Baker, its Superintendent, to draw up plans for the Turkish bath at a cost not to exceed £1,400, including equipment and furnishing.
